Quick Facts about Autism

Hello everyone.  Today I wanted to share some statistics that I learned as a former one on one behavioral therapist…

  • Autism is projected to occur in 1 in 150 births
  •
  • Over one million Americans have an autism spectrum disorder
  •
  • It is the fastest growing developmental disability, with 10 – 17 % annual growth
  •
  • Boys are four times more likely than girls to have autism
  •
  • Autism is more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined
  •
  • The cost of lifelong care can be reduced significantly with early diagnosis and therapy
  •
  • By 2015, the estimated annual cost of treatment in the US will be over $200 billion

To learn more, follow me as I raise funds and share real life experiences for an upcoming film here

I know of one boy who has autism.

It has been tough on the parents… physically, even.

It is a lot of work and time consuming.

Hope to hear more on it from you.

    I’ll be staying tuned.

It is shocking that autisim is growing at all, let alone a rate that high. Jenny McCarthy wrote a book and sited (as I recall) a glueten and dariy free diet as being helpful.

  6. My wife worked in a group home for years and dealt with it on a daily basis. I believe there are autistic people, but sometimes we are to quit to job people and label them.

If you go to the doctor and he tells your parents you are autistic, guess what, you will be. The image of a doctor as an expert makes it easy to bypass the critical factor of the conscious mind. You will look for symptoms, and the symptoms will help compound the idea of you being autistic. Power of Hypnosis.

I am not saying this is the case of in every situation, but it out there.

With all that said, I look forward to watching your video and seeing you work toward helping this situation.

  7. I’ll admit I know very little about autism although I hear about it in the mainstream media frequently. It sounds alarming and I am sure devastating to those who have to deal with it.

Are there various degrees of autism? I am interested in learning more.

Looking forward to learning more about autism and your forthcoming documentary film.

Is there any kind of increased likelihood to get it when one of the birth parents has it?

  13. Hi Greg,
Great post for a great cause. Most people don’t realize how pervasive autism is.
My 18 year old nephew has severe autism. I worked with children on the spectrum for about 8 years before starting my private practice.
I have always wanted to come up with a method that integrates hypnotherapy/hypnosis with intervention. Imagine what we could do to help children with self-stimulatory and perseverative behavior.

    Hi Greg,

Autism: got a friend whose has a son got it. I suspect it’s the mercury in the immunizations that he had when he’s a few years old as son’s mum said his eyes were alert and sharp at one stage bfore autism set in after the “Triple M” immunization.

  16. Katie says:

hi Greg, I’ve also observed the triple M immunization effect on our friend’s son . . . very scary. Not sure I’d allow a triple M on my child at this point.

I’ve also read about the correlation between a father being over 40 and the increase risk of autism. Glad to see the risk factors are being assessed beyond blaming the mother.

  17. Hi Greg:

Thank for the lead on Probe. I’d like to hear what you think of it when you look into it.

  18. I have babysat several children with autism. All were at different stages of the spectrum. It scares me so much. Supposedly they proved it has nothing to do with the immunizations but I wish they would just find the cause. It has to be environmental. There wasn’t such a huge number of cases 30 years ago. In fact, hardly anyone had ever heard of it. Just look at these comments – almost everybody either has a family member with autism or has a friend with a child that has it. It’s so sad.

  27. I’ve done a little research into autism and the assertion by some researchers that a major cause of autism is suspected to be vaccinations given in the early years of a child’s life.
